The Main International Finals of the 22nd Youth Sports Games were held in Split between 20-25 August, during which an entire fairy-tale took place in only five days!
! A fairy tale of love, companionship, success, fair play, support, understanding, tolerance ... A fairy tale in which everyone who has a good heart is rich and has many friends, which is what all of us who gathered in Split were intent in proving.
Over 1,100 kids from all over the region spent a phenomenal five days making new acquaintances with peers from other countries, swimming and sunbathing, visiting the magical streets of one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia, enjoying the competitions and winning medals at the excellent sports facilities in Split.
The Closing Ceremony of the Games was held at the popular promenade Riva. All participants welcomed Zdravko Marić, the Regional President and founder of Youth Sports Games.
With the presence of members of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, a large number of sponsors and friends, we are proud that the finals in Split were attended by Mira Nikolić, the ambassador of our country to Croatia, Miloš Kovačević, Advisor to the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ilija Nedić, Head of Department for Culture, Sports and Youth of the City Administration of Sremska Mitrovica, former successful athletes from Serbia, Željko Tanasković and Nenad Borovčanin, and many others.
The Ambassador of the Games Predrag Mijatović, former Partizan and Real Madrid football player, once again expressed his joy due to the fact that the Games were growing year after year before everyone's eyes.
The celebration was even grander due to the presence of the Games’ friends and promoters Slaven Bilić and Zlatko Dalić, as well as officials from Coca-Cola, headed by Zoran Bogdanović, the CEO of Coca-Cola HBC, and Aleksandar Ružević, former General Director of Coca-Cola HBC Serbia and current General Director of Coca-Cola HBC Russia, who was a special guest of the YSG Serbian team at this event.
The spectacle on the Riva ended with a fantastic firework over the sea and a concert dedicated to famous Split musician Oliver Dragojević. And while Oliver's beautiful verses “Believe in love and save it, believe in love in good and evil” melted into the waves, letting the sea take this message far away into the world, it became clear to everyone that love was this year at the wheel of our caravan of joy, and that we all together, believing in love, created yet another magical glass piece for the kaleidoscope of Youth Sports Games’ glittering history.
We are already prepared for a new round, intent in creating new glass pieces and magical images. And we know that you are ready and that's why we cannot wait to see each other once again!
